Helen Tanona is an IT Portfolio Manager with the State of Vermont’s Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO). Helen coordinates resourcing and reporting for IT projects within the Agency of Transportation (AOT), Department of Public Safety (DPS), and Vermont Agency of Agriculture (VAAFM). She leads a team of Project Managers and Business Analysts to deliver projects in the portfolio.
Helen’s strength lies in recovering troubled projects. She uses structured assessments to determine root issues and stabilize the project, then leans upon her skills in managing team dynamics and intrinsic motivators to lead the team to recovery and successful project delivery.
Helen values people and the connections between them. She has seen that solutions to the most challenging problems lie in the dialogue that emerges between trusting team members, not from any one person alone. Helen loves the work she does because she can see, strengthen, and improve relationships to help those involved achieve their goals.
Helen believes in the adage:
“We’re stronger together than we are apart.”
Helen lives in Chittenden county with her husband, two kids, and two cats. When not engaged in parenting, Helen enjoys gardening, hiking, and running road races. Helen’s super power is the ability to sleep anywhere, anytime, on command!
